Wooden Tongs

Description

These tongs are the classic example of reusing scrap timber. The arms are cypress, the hinge area is river red gum, and the dark pin is recycled walnut.
Weighing approximately one third of the usual aluminium model, the closing pressure can be varied for people with arthritis. Weighing approximately 68 g, the closing pressure is approximately 150 gm. Dimensions :300 mm long and 30 mm square. The

materials used can vary, depending on what is available, and some timbers may affect the product dimensions, particularly the weight.
These tongs were finished , sanded to 1200 grit, and wiped over with a food, safe oil, in this case, grapeseed. Requiring very little maintenance, hand washed in warm, soapy water, no harsh abrasives, and the occasional wipe over with a food safe oil.
