Chopping Board - "The Vertical Zipper"

Description

I have handmade this board in my workshop in the Southern Highlands, NSW, it combines the warm colours of cherry, the dark of Black Walnut and the blonde of American oak to create a nice contrast between the different timber colours.

I’ve constructed this board using the end-grain method, with the timber blocks arranged to show off the natural grain and colours of the wood. Each piece has its own character, so no two boards are exactly alike.

It is solid and sturdy board that’s suitable for everyday food preparation or serving.

The end-grain surface is durable and well suited to chopping, while the smooth finish brings out the natural colours of the timber.

I sand each board carefully before applying a blend of food-grade mineral oil and local Southern Tablelands beeswax to help protect the wood and keep it looking its best.

Care and maintenance
To keep your board in good condition:

Hand wash with warm water and mild soap.

Don't soak it or put it in the dishwasher.

Dry it thoroughly with a towel and allow it to air dry upright.

Apply food-safe mineral oil or board wax when the timber starts to look dry.

Keep it away from excessive heat and direct sunlight.

A care guide and sample pot of board conditioner is included with every board.

Sizing – Please note that boards are often not the exact sizing you choose as we prioritise the pattern and how it looks over the size so they may be slightly smaller or larger than the size ordered.
